Wishlist Wednesday

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop from Pen to Paper that invites ones to post about one book per week that has been on their wishlist for some time, or just added, and that you can’t wait to get off the wishlist and onto your wonderful shelves.

A few years ago, I started trying to write stories for publication. This led to discussions between my father-in-law and me about fiction. Two of my first accepted stories were fantasies and so he lent me a collection of genre magazines. He also told me about an author whom he knew. I tried her science fiction series and didn’t care for them, not being a fan of the  hard-core stuff. He also lent me a western set in the untamed Wyoming of the late nineteenth century.

Three Rivers by Carla J. Mills tells the story of Doreen Anderson, who inherited land. A powerful landowner tries to force her to leave, which leads her to turn to a gunman. According to the back cover description, Doreen finds in “herself a sureness of spirit and heart that would forever brand her a woman of independence, courage, and boundless love.”

As with the rest of June’s features here at Wednesday Wishlist, it’s in my pile of books to take with me on my our annual summer vacation. Next week I’ll be back with a selection recommended to me by husband.

What’s on your wish list?
