Snapshot Meme: Celebration of A Raise!

Posted on: February 14, 2014

Saturday Snapshot invites bloggers to share photos. After years of praying for better income, my husband got a much-deserved raise! Below are photos of our celebration day.

Why did we need a raise? When we married and I moved to his hometown, the best I could find for employment was a part-time teaching position. With our incomes combined, we could pay for basic bills, pet upkeep, and an annual trip to visit my family in Canada. However, saving for a house proved difficult. Any emergencies that arose normally depleted any money we could tuck away.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATo celebrate, my husband and I went to a movie. It’s one of our favorite shared activities.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe also ate out at my husband’s choice of a sushi restaurant.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe raise kicked in at the beginning of the year we already have seen the benefits. Cat needs oral surgery? Not a problem. Foster dog needs adopted? Not a problem. Valentine’s Day ahead? Not a problem. Wife needs a book to serve as model for third draft of novel? Not a problem. Husband would like to add to his Burma-Shave collection? Not a problem. As you can see, we’re finally able to both handle emergencies and to allow ourselves some perks including buying lots of toys and supplies for our new cat. All without touching our house fund!

Any excuse for sushi is always good. Congratulations.

Thanks to the wiggle room with finances, this weekend we’ll enjoy a day at our local theater. It’s showing Oscar contenders.

Congratulations on the raise for your hubby! It sounds like it was just what you both (and the animals!) needed.

Thanks. I’m so proud of my husband!

Lovely pictures, and congratulations on the raise. It sounds like your husband definitely earned it! Although money isn’t everything, it does make life a little easier, doesn’t it?
This is my first time to participate in Snapshot Saturday and I’m really enjoying it.

Thanks for your visit! Enjoy sharing photos and stories.

I started participating in memes about a year ago. My two favorites both occur on Saturday. 🙂

Congrats! Now you can enjoy more movies and sushis. I love them both. 😉

And books and trips. 🙂

Congratulations on Andy’s raise!

Thanks! It’s already been put to good use. It paid for Cinder’s oral surgery. Andy and I were also able to celebrate Valentine Day’s in style.

Books can take connect us with strangers, take us to unique places, and introduce us to new ideas. They can also offer hope in a chaotic world. And so I must share what I read!
