Snapshot Meme #61: Date by the Lake

Posted on: March 28, 2015

Saturday Snapshot invites bloggers to share photos. Every week, my husband and I set aside one day as our date night. We also take turns being the person in charge of plans.

On my most recent turn, I decided on numerous activities. First, as we drove around, we played road games. You remember those, right? Andy and I looked for signs with the letter P or Q. Not being the driver, I naturally had an advantage and won 24-21. For our other travel game, we looked for letters of the alphabet in consecutive order on license plates. We reached Q before pulling up in front of our house for the end of the night.

Second, we went to a local park for a picnic by the lake. My idea had been for us to eat while watching the sunset. That would create the romantic feel appropriate to a couple’s night out. Problem is, the month of March is still prone to overcast skies. So, we changed up the plans by eating at a bench and then taking our dogs for a walk.

While on our stroll, some drakes came flying down and skidding along the water. A commotion ensued, along with lots of flapping of wings. Then off the drakes flew. This happened a few times, before Andy figured out that there was a female duck nearby. Ah-ha! Below are some photos of the action, as well as a photo of the dating couple. This little adventure was just as a good as a sunset, don’t you think? 😉

What are some of your memorable couple nights?

Sounds like a perfect evening to me. One of our memorable date nights happened when we lived in Miami. I knew we’d be having a full moon, so I grabbed my husband, a bottle of wine, and two glasses, and we drove to a nearby park overlooking Biscayne Bay. We sipped wine and watched the gigantic yellow moon rise over the water. — Nothing outstanding, just a quiet moment of beauty shared.

“A quiet moment of beauty shared”. That’s a perfect description for the date nights I like best. 🙂 Thanks for sharing one of your own memorable date nights!

Sounds like an awesome evening with your hubby 🙂 Beautiful duck pictures!

Thanks! The evening was simple and different but very fun.

Yay, date night–and yay fun date nights!

And, yay, date nights that happen outside. 🙂

What a fun date night! Those opportunities to relax and observe the world around you…and have a picnic. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine, not a date night, but a date with my bookish hoards: MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

I’ve been feeling stir-crazy during the long and cold winter. It was nice to get out and enjoy a spring stroll.

Apparently, the ducks were having a date night, too. 🙂
