Welcoming the new year with goals!
Looking back over 2015, I can point to some accomplishments. For example, a program called FitDay helped me track my caloric intake and ultimately to get to my desired weight. Two of my special education students returned to their regular classroom for all their instruction. Allison’s Book Bag reached 5000 hits. I increased my posts at Lincoln Animal Ambassadors to once a month to once a week.
Looking ahead to 2016, I have some resolutions. The first two will be the hardest to achieve, because I tend to always have three-thousand things I’d like to do. These resolutions are:
- Spend more time with pets!
- Take more time to relax!
Because these resolutions will be difficult to reach, I’ve set goals to help me.
I already spend time with our pets in the mornings by grooming and training them, but I want to do better than this! The problem is when I get to the evening, my mind is too tired to brainstorm ways to play with them. To remedy this, I’m going to spend a little time every weekend looking for ways to interact with them. This will get me excited about setting aside time in the evenings for them too.
This past year, I managed to stop allowing myself to have evening job commitments. Unfortunately, I switched to filling up my time with household tasks. To remedy this, I’m going to set aside an hour every night that is mine to do anything BUT work. On a similar note, I’ve tried to limit how often during the day I go online, but I think I can improve. This year, to not even use the internet on Sundays, and thereby focus on life around me.
I have a couple other resolutions. Those are:
- speak up more for animals and other values
- experiment more with my writing
Those I’ve already been working towards. I post often about animal needs, and have written a couple of stories outside of genres with which I am comfortable. As for how to ensure I reach those resolutions, I’m thinking about it….
What about you? What resolutions or goals did you set this year?

That’s the important thing about resolutions – having specific plans and goals in order to accomplish them. It sounds like you’re on the right track to succeeding. Happy 2016 and thanks for playing 6WS!
