With our household of critters having expanded to include three cats and a dog, I thought it fitting to join a meme related to pets. After searching around, I came across Awww….. Mondays. The one rule is: “Post a picture that makes you say Awww…. and that’s it.” Every photo seemed to feature a pet and so the meme is a perfect.
Two of the cats are asleep on the cat tower in the living room. The third closely watches her pet mom, who opens the bedroom closet. Pounce! Rainy leaps inside the open closet and, before her pet mom can stop her, she pulls out a dangler from a toy bin. “Leave it!” her pet mom yells but Rainy runs off into the living room. Almost instantly, she has the attention of the other cats. The tortie jumps from one ledge to the next until she’s on the carpeted floor, while the tabby sits upright and watches with curious eyes. The cats are awake. And they’re all soon in motion. Play! Play! Play! When their pet mom appears, she scolds Rainy. But doesn’t have the heart to take away the dangler. After all, Rainy just got her sisters up, awake, and having fun.
Soon bored of the dangler, Rainy bounds onto the table. Placemats slip and fly. And there comes her pet mom’s next command: “Get down!” On the floor below, the tortie’s butt wiggles. Her eyes are riveted on Rainy. A second later, she springs into action and lands next to Rainy. Their front legs interlock and they tumble. Their back legs pump and they tumble. Around and around they go. On the floor below is the overweight tabby. She’s being unusually bold today. Their pet mom sighs and shakes her head but then laughs. The girls are entertaining each other and having fun, the way happy families should. How can she deny them?
Rainy has one last move in mind. She flies from the table to the floor and sprints towards the recliner. On it sits the solitary dog. He stares out the window with half-closed eyes. Rainy draws closer. Her pet mom bellows, “NO!” But Rainy has already lept onto the recliner. Now she lands atop the solitary dog. He barks. She flees. He chases. The tortie follows. So many critters underfoot! The tabby darts one way, then the other, not sure where to go. In her haste, Rainy knocks plush toys from a cabinet. Her pet mom grabs her and rolls Rainy over on her tummy. She gives Rainy a lecture. But it’s mixed with tickles and hugs. Rainy might be the naughtiest, but she’s also lively and cute, and so who can resist spoiling her?
