With our household of critters having expanded to include three cats and a dog, I thought it fitting to join a meme related to pets. After searching around, I came across Awww….. Mondays. The one rule is: “Post a picture that makes you say Awww…. and that’s it.” Every photo seemed to feature a pet and so the meme is a perfect.

Last fall, my husband and I treated Cinder to a “big girl” activity. We took our dog and Cinder for a walk at a local park, but left the other two cats behind. Adopted from a no-kill shelter, Cinder has been with our family the longest.

How does one take a cat for a walk at a park? For us, we first slip a harness onto Cinder. Then we load her into a study plastic carrier. This allows her to ride with us in the car. Once at the park, Andy unfolds our pet stroller. Finally, I switch her from the crate to the stroller.

And we’re off! The walk starts off fairly routine. Passerbys “ooh” and “aww” over our toy poodle. They also express surprise over seeing a cat in a stroller. Pets really are a sure-fire way to get attention. 😉

This walk being about Cinder, we surprise her. At a grove with benches, I unzip the stroller and let Cinder out to explore. Initially, she’s a little hesitant and unsure of what to do. She crouches and sniffs but doesn’t wander far.

Then Cinder turns the tables on us with her own surprise. She flops onto the ground and rolls in pine needles and leaves. Happy cat!

Thanks for the compliment! While I transition into a new job, I might rework some of my petstories to post at LAA Pet Talk. This would increase their audience.

PS During election season, a lot of my pet friends turned to posting animal photos and anecdotes. Animals provide a needed relief from the drama in the news. 😉

I probably should take our cats for more walks than I do. But I do at least try to keep them entertained with tricks and toys and visits to in-laws. Have a meow meow and perfect week. 😉
